The Teens in Ranching Internship at Wild Souls Ranch is a hands-on volunteer and career exploration program designed for high schoolers in Humboldt County. Through mentorship, experiential learning, and meaningful service opportunities, teens gain practical skills in ranch operations, equine care, agriculture, nonprofit work, and community engagement while earning community service hours. Please note that this is not a riding-intensive opportunity. Opportunities for riding may occur, but are not guaranteed.
Interns participate in activities such as mucking out, facility maintenance, horse handling and grooming, gardening, event support, and office projects. The program helps students develop leadership abilities, strengthen their work ethic, and gain valuable real-world experience while earning volunteer hours and building resumes for college, scholarships, and future employment opportunities. By participating in the Teens in Ranching Internship Program, youth gain practical skills and meaningful experiences that prepare them for future careers in agriculture.
Interns accepted into the Teens in Ranching Internship Program must commit to volunteering at least once per week for a minimum of three consecutive months. This commitment helps participants build meaningful skills, develop responsibility, and become familiar with ranch routines and operations.
Upon successful completion of the three-month internship period, interns are welcome to continue volunteering with Wild Souls Ranch as long-term interns and may have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, leadership roles, and mentorship opportunities within the program.
Parent or guardian permission required.
